The Scholarship Programme is designed to equip the youth with an entrepreneurial mindset to enable future generations to redress the inequalities of the past and to continue the economic and social transformation of South Africa.

The Programme fosters the curiosity and potential already exhibited by these learners through a combination of face-to-face, online and peer learning, as well as one-on-one interventions. The curricula of leading partner high schools are supplemented by mentorship, provided by a dedicated Programme Officer. Scholars complete the programme with an understanding of entrepreneurship and an appreciation of the culture of community and collaboration. They are inspired to create value as part of their entrepreneurial career and are looking forward to becoming Fellows.

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is a prominent initiative dedicated to fostering entrepreneurial potential among young people in Southern Africa. Established by South African businessman Allan Gray, the foundation aims to identify, support, and develop individuals who demonstrate exceptional entrepreneurial talent and leadership potential. The foundation’s programs are designed to equip these young leaders with the skills, mindset, and resources needed to drive positive social and economic change in their communities and beyond.

The foundation’s flagship program is the Fellowship, which targets students in their final year of high school or first year of university. The Fellowship offers comprehensive support, including full university scholarships, mentorship, and access to a network of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. In addition to financial assistance, fellows participate in a rigorous personal and professional development program that includes workshops, seminars, and practical entrepreneurial experiences. This holistic approach ensures that fellows not only excel academically but also develop the resilience, creativity, and strategic thinking necessary for entrepreneurial success.

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is deeply committed to creating a community of responsible entrepreneurs who are motivated by a sense of purpose and a desire to contribute to the greater good. The foundation believes that by nurturing ethical and impactful leaders, it can help build a prosperous and equitable society. Its long-term vision is to see its fellows become the next generation of influential business and community leaders who will drive sustainable development across Southern Africa.
