A Gardena fruit vendor’s moment of faith went viral after he was recorded kneeling in prayer before beginning his workday.

Widespread video of Luis Angel Morales was posted on TikTok earlier this week has since garnered more than 1 million views. The video, taken by another user, shows Morales praying in front of his fruit cart with text on the screen that reads, “Support street vendors, hopefully he makes money.”

“I entrust myself in God a lot,” Morales, a devout Catholic, said.

The fruit vendor said he arrived in the U.S. from Puebla, Mexico just two months ago and with him, brought his diligence in supporting his family back home and his faith. He said his morals were instilled in him by his parents.

A family-focused person, Morales works 13-hour shifts, 7 days a week at the fruit cart to provide for his wife and two young children who are still in Mexico. He said although he misses them, he knows the sacrifice he makes in being apart for them is giving them a great deal of support.

“My thing is to earn money to provide for my family,” he said.

The viral video has helped Morales in his goal to provide for his family. He said since it was posted, he’s experienced a significant increase in customers. Despite the popularity, his mission remains the same and he said he’ll continue his workday with the practice that made him viral.

Those who want to purchase fruit from Morales can find him selling mangos, watermelon, pineapple and other fresh fruit near the intersection of Orchard Avenue and Redondo Beach Boulevard.

5 Freeway reopens following shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured in Boyle Heights – NBC Los Angeles

All lanes of the 5 Freeway have reopened following a shooting in Boyle Heights that left one person dead and one other injured on Thursday.

Police are looking for two men they say are responsible for killing one person and injuring another in a deadly road rage shooting on the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights.

The shooting happened at around 4:17 p.m. along the 5 Freeway near the Grande Vista exit, paralyzing the freeway lanes for hours Thursday evening.

Drivers of a gold Cadillac and Dodge Durango were involved in an altercation that resulted in the shooting.

“The gold Cadillac rear-ended an uninvolved vehicle. At which point, the occupants of the Dodge Durango became excited and started firing upon the occupants of the gold Cadillac,” said Lieutenant Bob Purvis with the CHP.

Several other vehicles were hit by gunfire apart from those involved, none of those people were injured.

Purvis says the gold Cadillac then made a U-turn on the freeway, driving against traffic and hitting several other cars before coming to a stop.

The two men inside the Durango got away, according to CHP.

Neighbors in the area were shaken up by the tragedy on one of the busiest freeway interchanges in the country.

“It’s concerning because some of us are just trying to get home and no one knows what could happen,” said Aaria Arana who lives in the area.

A Sigalert was issued in the area as traffic was backed up to the 710 Freeway and northbound lanes remained closed as the investigation continued.

Eight people, including a driver, were injured after a car rammed into a strip mall in Tarzana Thursday afternoon, Los Angeles fire officials said.

After the car crashed into the first floor of the two-story mall on Ventura Boulevard and Yolanda Avenue, the coffee shop sustained most damage, according to officials.

Seven of the injured were either in a car or in the parking lot of the mall when the crash happened. They decided not to be taken to a hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

The driver was also injured in the incident but declined to be transported to a hospital.

Officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue team will evaluate the building for any safety concerns.
